Peter Tosh Biography
Peter Tosh was born on October 19, 1944, in Granger Hill Jamaica. His real name is Winston Hubert Mclntosh. Peter was a Jamaican pioneer musician, songwriter and singer.
He is well known as one of the founding members of The Wailers alongside Bunny Wailer and Bob Marley. The trio formed The Wailing Wailers in 1963.
His music influence reflected as ska style of the time and eventually turned into reggae by the late 1960’s.
The Wailers signed with Island Records given their popularity and influence in the Jamaican music industry.
Tosh was raised in a rural part of Jamaica and was deeply influenced by his community lifestyle and exposure to music in the church.
He met Burna Marley and Bunny in the early 1960s when he moved to Kingston town and joined the ska and rocksteady scenes.
Peter Tosh has released amazing trending albums during his life on earth. His albums include “Catch a Fire” released in 1973 alongside Burning in 1973 respectively.
His songs basically talked about equal rights and social justice, some of his iconic songs are “Stand Up”, “400 Years, and “Get Up”.
These songs introduced reggae to global audiences. Peter Tosh eventually left Island Records in 1974 when the record made Bob Marley the Frontman.
