Manchester United defeated Everton with a 4-0 victory at Old Trafford to record Reuben Amorin’s first Premier League win as a new manager.
“We have a long way to go” Amorin told Sky Sports adding that his expectations for the club are highly standard. Marcus Rashford and Zirkzee scored twice to secure victory for the club.
United dominated possession during the second half and created chance after chance in the first half while Everton missed golden opportunities.
Tonight’s victory showcased Amorin’s attacking strategy, positioning the team strongly in the league.
Match Highlights
Marcus Rashford continues to prove his worth with the club. He claimed his first opening goal with Reuben last weekend and scored twice against Everton. Rashford’s second-half opening goal showcased his clinical ability to score in a tight position.
Joshua Zirkzee also opened his first premier league goal for the season under the Portuguese coach Amorin.
His efforts secured three points for United as the club moved up to ninth position on the table with 19th points.
However, Everton is two points above the relegation zone and remains in 15th position in the league.
Reuben Amorin told Sky Sports after the match, he said,
“The result was good but we were pragmatic. It was not pretty but we were pragmatic. We did our job, which is to win,”
“You can feel that we have a long way to go. You can feel that in the first few minutes, where we were OK, but then Everton controlled the game. Then we got the goals at the right moment and that changed the game.
“You can’t just focus on the result, you have to focus on the way the result appeared. Like before the game, we have so much to do, but it is better to work with victories. Let’s focus on the performance more than the result. You can feel it during the game. It isn’t a line of top performances, it is a rollercoaster of performances. We have some moments when we are good but then we have moments when we have to suffer. We did it again like in the Europa League. We need time to train and improve. It is better to work with victories.
The Red Devils’ performance with the new coach will pave the way for the club to secure a position in the Champions League qualifier next season. Fans are also hoping to win more trophies and expecting positive changes with the new manager.
